Don Quixote – Colorado Ballet’s 2019/2020 Season has Launched with Rave Reviews
As expected, the Colorado Ballet’s 2019/2020 season premier of Don Quixote is a smashing hit and the excitement continues through the weekend.
The story of Don Quixote is based on the novel, The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha with the ballet version premiering in 1869 in Moscow, Russia “and remains one of today’s most frequently performed works with original classical choreography by Marius Petipa and music by Ludwig Minkus, performed by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra.”
The dazzling Spanish sets compliment the costumes and the impressive skills of the dancers and how they gracefully and seemingly effortlessly take on challenging choreography, always leaves the audience in awe. Watch a SNEAK PEEK HERE! The Spanish style sets and costumes seen in this production of Don Quixote come to the Colorado Ballet from American Ballet Theatre in New York.*
The story itself is one of adventure, love, intrigue with twists and turns as Don Quixote and his trusted companion set out to find Quixote’s true love.
As Gil Boggs, Colorado Ballet’s Artistic Director stated prior to the season premier, “We are very excited to open our season with Don Quixote and bring this classical ballet to the Ellie Caulkins Opera House stage for the first time in 10 years, our dancers are really looking forward to performing this work. The choreography showcases their incredible technique and athleticism throughout the performance. This story of Don Quixote takes audiences on an adventure with humor and romance – and we can’t wait to share it with Colorado audiences.”
