Every year the Colorado Ballet announces their performance season and every season they take their performances up another level! If one thinks that they won’t find drama, seduction, unparalleled choreography and music, live music by the way, performed by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra in each incredible performance, then they haven’t been to the ballet of late. Following the yellow brick road, The Wizard of Oz comes to life with the Opening Performance, Friday, February 1, featuring new sets, costumes and special effects! Union Station Green – February Wizard of Oz Month

As noted on the press release, Mayor Michael B. Hancock officially proclaimed February 2019 to be known as: “The Colorado Ballet Wizard of Oz Month”, and popular Denver locations plan to show their support by lighting up green in celebration. Be on the look-out for green lights at Denver’s Union Station, Daniels and Fisher Clock Tower, The Dairy Block, Denver’s Botanic Gardens and the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. Additionally, life-sized cut-outs of the Oz characters can be seen at Union Station, The Dairy Block, The Curtis Hotel and the Embassy Suites Denver Downtown.

An Evening with Oz Gala

The Colorado Ballet is also to host an Evening in Oz Gala to be held February 7 at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, Denver Performing Arts Complex. As stated on their press release, this “one evening will make an impact that touches lives throughout the entire year—An Evening in Oz Gala will support Colorado Ballet’s Education and Community Engagement Programs and Academy Scholarships.

Enjoy cocktails along the Yellow Brick Road, a fantastical excerpt from the much anticipated premiere of The Wizard of Oz by renowned choreographer Septime Webre, an auction of luxury items and an opulent meal in the elegant Emerald City. Finally, click your heels together as you finish the evening dancing on the Ellie Stage.” *  “With both of our families having children in Colorado Ballet’s Academy,” states Gala Co-Chair, Academy Parent and Board Member Michael Korenblat, “the Moskovichs, Talia and I are especially excited to be in a position to raise scholarship money for worthy Academy students and extraordinary Education Programs.
